Women's Health
One of the areas of Interventional Radiology we’re most excited to be involved with is the area of women’s health. The visualization-guided, minimally invasive IR procedures we specialize in are particularly effective in dealing with common health problems that affect women.
Specifically, we are providing help and care to women affected by fibroid growths that develop in the wall of the uterus. These fibroids are not cancerous per se, but cause many unpleasant symptoms, and a procedure called Uterine Fibroid Embolization can be very effective in reducing these symptoms.
We Can Help With Infertility
Similarly, a common cause of infertility is blockage of the Fallopian tubes, a problem that can be resolved using the minimally invasive procedure called Fallopian tube recanalization.
Pelvic Pain? We help with that too.
Finally, an estimated one third of American women experience chronic pelvic pain caused by pelvic venous congestion syndrome, and minimally invasive IR techniques can be quite effective in closing the abnormal veins that cause it.
